PLC Training: Course Description: The First Aid course incorporates the latest science and teaches participants to recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. Classes are mixed with a combination of interactive discussions, engaging videos, skills evaluation, and study guides to deliver more effective and proactive emergency response. Upon completion of this course, participants will receive an American Safety & Health Institute (HIS) certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid.

First Aid Skills:

  •    Identify the signals of common sudden illnesses.

  •    Identify the signals of heat-related illnesses and cold-related emergencies.

  •    Explain how to care for head, neck and spinal injuries.

  •    Describe how to care for various soft tissue and musculoskeletal injuries.

  •    Explain how to care for muscle, bone or joint injuries.

  •    Demonstrate how to control external bleeding.

  •    Identify signals of head, neck and spinal injuries.

Facilitator: Mary Ann Roman

Mary Ann Roman has been working in the field of Early Childhood Education for over 15 years. She has held a variety of positions including; Teacher, Site Coordinator, Program Director and most recently Training Manager. She has an Associates in Early Childhood and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Child, Families and Communities Studies from Merrimack College. Mary Ann enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her family.
