Creating Dynamic Learning Environments

What does your classroom environment communicate about yourself and the children? Do you enjoy being in your space? How do children and families react to the classroom? Utilizing Debbie Curtis and Margie Carter’s book, Designs for Living and Learning: Transforming Early Childhood Environments, as our inspiration, we will use the day to reflect on the strengths of your center based classroom and work through the struggles you may have encountered. Join us for an interactive, hands-on day examining the ins and outs of classroom environments. We’ll explore the connection between behavior and a child’s environment, and how to make adaptations to be inclusive of children with varying abilities and cultural backgrounds. We will encourage you to draw on your own sense of design, comfort, and aesthetics while being mindful of tight budgets and limited resources. Let’s create captivating environments that nurture children, families, and staff while supporting children’s learning!
