Target audience: FCC Providers, Teachers, Administrators,

PLC Address: VIRTUAL-ONLINE

PLC Training: At birth, the average baby's brain is about a quarter of the size of the average adult brain. Incredibly, it doubles in size in the first year. It keeps growing to about 80% of adult size by age 3 and 90% – nearly full-grown – by age 5. The foundation of brain development is social and emotional development, grounded in caring relationships. Through large and small group discussions, videos, and case studies, participants will explore the critical components of healthy brain development and consider developmentally appropriate practices to facilitate healthy growth and development.

Participants will be able to:

  • Describe and apply the developmental, cultural and personality theories that form the basis for understanding behavior influences and strategies used

  • Describe, practice and interpret the Antecedent/Behavior/Consequence (ABC) functional analysis

  • Describe, practice and apply three strategies used by adults to help children develop and practice appropriate and acceptable behavior utilizing a guidance plan
